OnePlus has launched their most anticipated phone of the year the OnePlus 5 at a launch event in the US. The phone is the company’s flagship killer for the year 2017.
OnePlus didn’t name the phone as OnePlus 4 because the number 4 is considered unlucky in China. The device is having a 5.5inch optic AMOLED display, Snapdragon 835 chipset, Adreno 540 GPU and is coming in two variants –
- 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.
- 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory.
Coming to the camera the OnePlus 5 is having a dual camera setup (20MP+16MP) rear camera along with a 3,300mah battery (Dash charging enabled). OnePlus co-founder, said that it took them 1,281 days to make this device.
The device is also having Bluetooth 5.0, NFC support and a fingerprint scanner on the front with an unlocking speed of 0.2 seconds and the latest version of OxygenOS out of the box.
The device is currently available for pre-order in the US and Europe on OnePlus’s official website.
The device will be available for a price of $479 in the US and €499 in Europe.
Worth the hype?
No, OnePlus 5 is a great device and I am not denying that, but there is nothing very unique or special about the phone like the design has been somewhat copied from the Apple iPhone 7 plus and the specs are very much similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the HTC U11.
