Netflix adds HDR support for Sony Xperia XZ premium smartphone

The Sony Xperia XZ premium is not only the world’s first commercially available smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset, but also the world’s first phone to feature a 4K display with HDR support.

Although HDR is not useful without HDR ready content. Netflix has just announced that the latest update to their app will bring HDR ready content for the Sony Xperia XZ premium smartphones globally.

Apart from the Sony Xperia XZ premium the device which can play Netflix with HDR is the LG G6. Samsung’s latest flagship killers the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus also supports HDR content so they might the next devices to have HDR playback enabled for Netflix.

The Netflix HDR support will make your Viewing experience more alive and the contrast should be higher.

Netflix, however mentioned that in order to make the use of the HDR capabilities of the app you should have the latest firmware on your Sony Xperia XZ premium smartphone as well as the latest version of Netflix, with 4 screen premium Netflix subscription and a good Internet connection.
